Being a finalist in the Imagine Cup 2013 contest

The local finals of Imagine Cup 2013 took place between 3-4.04.2013. During the first day, 15 teams competed in 3 categories – World Citizenship, Games, Innovation.

My team – APPengers, were taking part in the Innovation challenge.

To make it to the final 9, we had to perform 2 presentations for 2 different juries. That was great experience and we received fantastic feedback. It was great that after performing the presentations, juries had many questions, and were really into the idea.

We made it to the top 9, top 3 within the Innovation category, with flying colours.

We came up with the idea of CommuteSurf – the crowd-source based system for tracking public transport vehicles.  Our competitors were Future Mind and Tap Boarders.

The second day was intense and full of memorizing, as we wanted to say everything perfectly and make our app proud, that its well represented 😉

We performed the presentation on the great looking stage, with huge screens, great sound and neat design.

In the end – we finished on the 2nd place, and we happened to turn out to be the most rewarded team as we have received the following rewards:

  • special reward from brainville – that will be the great help for the market start of our application
  • reward for Grzegorz Oksiuta, who created the interface and graphic materials – for the best design in the contest

This post wouldn’t be complete without the list of APPengers members:

  • Agnieszka Mykowiecka – programmer, presentation speaker
  • Przemek Pańczyk – servers programmer
  • Grzegorz Oksiuta – designer
  • and me – Michał Stawarz – programmer, team leader

It’s time to apply for the Online Finals, and we hope to make it big there 🙂
